Autumn

I always call it fall. Irene prefers autumn. She's right.
Some of us spent our lives in schools, as students first and then as teachers. We lived a cornucopia of gifts and sometimes a Pandora's Box of troubles.
For us, the fall is as much about beginnings as it is about fading light and the coming of winter.
We may be enveloped by darkness; light still shines.
As Solnit writes, the beginning comes after the end.
Tim Snyder has a series of meditations spoken in darkness from Kharkiv. They name the fundamentals as we look ahead.

Here's one way to get to the last of Pandora's gifts.
One way to Snyder's "small acts of courage."

Coming together in person is catharsis.

We lost Don Schmidt, last week.
If you knew him you are feeling the loss.
Donny saw the darkness. He lived the light.
