on looking

At the art gallery
Advice is free. If you want to see art, don't bring a camera.
I seldom follow my own advice.

Art galleries and churches (if they have art worth looking at and architecture that says something) turn me back into a child: eyes wide open, brain quiet for a bit; almost all the way back to walking through galleries and churches in Rome, holding my grandmother's hand. They were never religious trips, even to the churches. We walked and gazed, in good roman style.
I shot many more than these at the Art Gallery of Ontario over the last couple of years.

Childhood memories aside, if I bring a camera, "I like to watch".
I hope you like the people in these photographs as much I liked watching them "walk and gaze".
