Waiting for the Santa Claus Parade

Waiting for the Santa Claus Parade

I found myself on the route of the annual Santa Claus parade, by chance.
I am always drawn to people in the city.
No photographs of the parade: just of folks getting ready to watch.

My city is nothing if not mercantile.
And I was in the heart of it on University and Wellington.
The parade starts north and west of there and runs along Bloor, arguably the city's main street (or is it Yonge?).
The vibe there is more neighbourly, the street less grand.

But the core comes alive with people for all kinds of public events.
Make no mistake, privilege stakes its ground even at these, as per below.

The boulevard on University Avenue.

Royal Canadian Military Institute (two buildings north of the US consulate).

Framed
Private seating
Peace, Intifada, Jesus, Epstein Cole, City of Toronto
Mostly banks.
Cadet Rudolph
"I'm coming."
Public, but private on Wellington.
"McCarthy Tétrault is a Canadian law firm that offers a full suite of legal and business solutions to clients in Canada and around the world." In their own words. Also on Wellington.
Welcome, friends and family.
Fifty-five years selling on Toronto's streets. The Royal Bank's gold (the real stuff) plated windows in the background.
When will it start?

There was a running race on, before the parade. Photos from that next.
Thanks for having a look.

I am always interested in your thoughts. Please leave a comment or send me a message at photosmm@pm.me.
